There is a new evil amongst us, and it goes by the name "X-Men Legends II: Rise Of Apocalypse".

A fantastic game I assure you, but it does seem to bring out some very worrying aspects in my fellow X-Men. It simply amazes me how truly petty some people can become about "their" characters. This leaves some people, such as myself, few opportunities for character selection. Since "my" character was delegated to a non-playable role it was decided that I could play one of The Brotherhood instead. Hrmpf, well at least Bobby had fun telling everyone how invaluable he is!
~ For those of you who haven't worked it out yet, through the comments attached to the last post and the statement above this line, Bobby has been de-powered not killed. ~

In another media realm... I watched with great interest the newly available X3 announcement teaser. I will hold off my final judgement on the costuming turning Mr Grammer into yours truly, until I see it in action on the big screen in May, but at the present time I am neither horrified nor thrilled.

Well it seems to have become quiet in the TV room. I may just duck in there for a chance at one of the other characters while no-one is looking.

In light of recent events I thought a trip down memory lane was in order...

And now a poem by an obscure Australian poet:

How I miss those simpler times,
and all the fun we shared.
For no matter what pranks we played,
we knew each other cared.

What I wouldn't give right now,
to somehow regain,
the innocence of those times,
instead of this current pain.

The loss of friends is hard to bare;
they forever haunt your heart.
You try your best to stay strong,
even as you fall apart.

Life must, of course, move along its path,
yet change is sometimes fast.
All you can really do to cope,
is pray your friendships last.

Whether by distance, deed or death,
you find your friends do wane,

I have valued your friendship over the years more than you know.

Rumor Control

A few days ago I discovered that the Institutes very own
Professor Charles Xavier was also keeping an on-line journal. Upon reading his entries I discovered some rather shocking tales.

It seems that the Professor has a penchant for exaggerating the details of some of his stories for greater impact. I find his blog entertaining, but I promise you the observations within are somewhat fictionalized. I mean, surely you wouldn’t expect someone of my fine form to be concerned about weight issues.
As Gaia stated in the blog comments, “…it’s all muscle…”.

As for my personal grooming, well some things are simply necessary I assure you.

Renaissance

Knowing that you’ve neglected one of your responsibilities is one thing… finding the time to correct that oversight is another… and then being made to feel guilty for your inattention by a rich kid with issues is a whole other degree of pressure.

So after seeing that I was considered lost over on Mr. W… *ahem* … Batman’s blog, I realized that I could no longer leave my little area here deserted. I assure all of you who were concerned for me and queried my whereabouts, that I am indeed still about and of good health. The main reason for my neglect of this blog… well I’m not exactly sure how, but it seems that Mr. Kelsey Grammar has obtained my personal phone number and now sees fit to call me at all hours of the day and night to discuss the nuances of his/my character. “Good Lord, Man ! You’re the Actor here ! Act !”

Anyway, that coupled with the normal demands on my time mean that my posts are sporadic at best. Thank you to all of you that have continued to visit and hoped for another update from yours truly. I promise to try for the next one much sooner.

My whereabouts this past weekend

Saludos, friends !

In opening, I must apologize for the lack of updates to this missive over the past few days. I’m sure that you’ll all forgive me once I explain that The X-Men (myself included) have been in the Savage Land, battling against Brainchild and the Mutates - So much for my relaxing weekend. Brainchild has always, for want of a better term, *Creeped Me Out*. I'm glad that Ka-Zar, Shanna and the United Tribes were able to take them off our hands and into "custody". I personally did not appreciate running into Lupa again.

While such activities are undoubtedly necessary, and a responsibility of power, the labors of The X-Men do often prove inconvenient when one is undertaking scientific research. I often wish that there were two of me - but I'm then promptly reminded of a particularly unpleasant experience when such proved to be true. Clones, Evil Twins and Inter-dimensional Doppelgangers are a royal pain.

Speaking of such, I'll take this opportunity to welcome an Ex-X-Man to the on-line world. Madelyne Pryor, ex-wife of the X-Men's own fearless leader, Cyclops, and member during the team's Australian tenure, appears to be taking a leaf out of Mark Twain's book - Rumors of her death appear to be Greatly Exaggerated. Welcome, Maddie, and I hope there are no hard feelings !

Has anybody been watching the new series of Doctor Who? (I swear, the Institute's communications array can pick up anything !) I'm thoroughly enjoying it. The cliffhanger ending to Episode 4 has me on tenterhooks !

In important World News, Doctor Doom is claiming paternity for the impending child of Brittney Spears. I'm sure that this announcement will have an incredibly huge impact on the political situation in Eastern Europe.

Research calls - as does Will & Grace. I must admit that I'm a fan. The ensemble cast are brilliant !

Ah, the joy of weekends !

Despite popular belief, I do take time off for weekends – Heroic responsibilities allowing. You may be wondering “What does an X-Man/Avenger/Scientist/Teacher do on weekends, other than hopping off to the Shi’ar Galaxy, curing the Legacy Virus or putting down a Genoshan uprising?”.

Well, as you’re already aware, I’ve recently begun this on-line account of my activities, and I enjoy writing in it thoroughly. I’m also keeping up with a number of Heroes and *cough* others *cough* via their own journals – you’ll note that I’ve added
Aquaman to the list of “Links” in the sidebar of this page. Welcome, Sea King, to the ranks of Heroes with Journals !

I also enjoy relaxing by the pool. We have a wonderful full sized Olympic pool here at the Institute, and have had a number of well-known guests over the years.

Another pastime I enjoy is getting together with fellow members of the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Avengers and assorted others for a regular game of Poker. I’ve long suspected that Doctor Strange uses the “Eye Of Agamotto” to spy on other player’s cards, and that Scarlet Witch’s “Lucky Streaks” run just a little too long…

Well, there is a fascinating documentary about to start on the Science Channel regarding Cellular Mitosis, so I must bid you all adieu,

ROBERT DRAKE !

It was funny the first seven times you iced over the Institute's bathrooms, but since then the humor has worn off.

I understand that every school year brings in a new class, full of young students who've never experienced your unique brand of comedy, but I can safely say that those of us who've been in residence at Xavier's since the beginning (and I know that you're fully aware of who we are) are DARNED SICK AND TIRED OF IT !

Try it again and I will assist Cyclops in using your V.I.P. DVD collection for target practice.

Dastardly !

It behooves me, in the spirit of fairness, to provide links to some of the more nefarious members of society who also keep on-line journals.

Dr. Doom, nemesis of the Fantastic Four and monarch of Latveria, maintains an on-line presence, as do two of Spider-Man's nemeses - Venom and Green Goblin.

I believe that the logging of activities by these individuals will only make it easier for good-hearted people to maintain a state of vigilance against their vile and malicious schemes.

I also suspect that Magneto is once again up to something. I'll be watching closely in the coming months for any sign of what it may be...

On Marvel Comics, and liberties taken ...

I'd like to take this opportunity to correct some erroneous details which have come to light in the tales published by Marvel Comics.

Early on in my career as a costumed Hero, I (and many others on this line) made arrangements with Stan Lee and Jack Kirby of Marvel Comics. They would publish stories in Comic Books, chronicling our exploits, and we would, in return, receive a modest ongoing stipend.

Much time has past since those innocent days, and the books published by Marvel seem, these days, to be more for entertainment value than posterity. Writers have taken it upon themselves to take liberties with both character and story, and more than once Marvel have presented their readers with entirely fictitious tales.

Marvel's newer writers credit me with a greater degree of Strength and Agility than I, in truth, possess, but I am bewildered as to why they have chosen to portray me as having undergone further mutation into some sort of giant Cat-Beast.

To all of my "fans", rest assured that I remain the Blue-Furred, Bouncing Beast you all know and love.

On a lighter note, has anybody noticed the influx of high quality Science Fiction on television at the moment? Between Stargate: SG1, Battlestar Galactica and the new series of Dr. Who, my evenings are positively consumed by television !

Welcome, One and All !

Salutations, and welcome to my on-line journal. With the rapidly increasing volume of Heroes (and some Villains) with such, I thought it astute to "get in on the ground floor", as one may say.

Greetings to any and all of my fellow heroes - Spider-Man, Sue Richards, Tony Stark and a very close friend, whose diary was one of the first I read, Hulk.

I'd also like to send a hello across the ether to another world, wherein dwell more Heroes, many of whom I have been fortuitous enough to have battled the forces of Evil alongside. Greetings to Batman, Flash and Green Arrow. I eagerly await word of your exploits !

Must rush, classes are beginning. The students here at the Institute can be a handful, but they all show promise. Their education is highest amongst my priorities, as is setting an example - So I must not be late.
